White Light/White Heat

Ok, after many sleepless nights, my pictures were finally done and hung for the exhibition. Here's the final product.

Opening night went really well. I had a few sales, plus a few requests for prints, which I'm considering. Initially I just liked the ideas of one off photos, but the popularity of one in particular has got me rethinking.

I'll put copies of the actual pictures up soon.

You'll notice that a bowl full of m&ms was part of the installation. As you can see, they didn't last long.

As stressful as it was, it was great fun and I've been pretty successful. The exhibition is still open, but I'm already full of ideas for the next one. Can't wait!

Dancehall Places

My favourite part of just wandering around is seeing that certain thing that makes you stop what you're doing and think "huh?" Then you get to make up all the crazy stories to go with it.

I saw these tree roots and had this massive urge to sit down and start playing with toys in all the crevices. I've learnt my lesson now. Always keep my matchbox cars in my handbag. And it's totally ok to be 28 and sit in someone's front yard playing.

I'm exhausted after a massive night of playing with food, but have about twice as much to do today. Damn you, deadlines!
The kettle's on. Unhealthy quantities of tea will be consumed.

Just Like Honey

Today I needed to find an outdoor area for a photoshoot. It had to be woodsy and a little bit magical. I ended up finding a perfect spot with a gorgeous tree and some beautiful moss. The idea behind the shots was that I would leave some cakes there overnight and just see what happened. I wanted someone to see me so that they'd be curious about what was going on, but I didn't want anyone to see me "littering" (which is what leaving cakes under a tree technically is). This is all the crap I had to try not to get in the shots. I guess it was good because it made me feel less guilty about leaving the cakes... but ugh... it's just sad what people do to beautiful spaces. I promise that if my cakes survive the night, they'll end up in the bin.

Emotional Rescue

Obviously if I'm struggling a bit with my artwork it's because this guy is my "helper".
